Netflix movies and series that motivate a healthy lifestyle

The enthusiasm associated with the beginning of the year and New Year’s resolutions are slowly subsiding. Therefore, it is worth looking for motivation to take care of yourself and your health! We present suggestions for movies and series straight from Netflix that will make you think and, we hope, become a driving force for change to introduce healthier eating habits.

Each of us wants to eat healthily and change our eating habits for the better. But do we really understand why this is so important? Let’s not kid ourselves, as long as we are young, we rarely put our health first. The most common motivation for a healthy lifestyle, then, is simply an attractive figure. And there’s seemingly nothing wrong with that, but is it enough to maintain healthy eating habits for life? Is it enough to resist easy and quick solutions to improve health?

In today’s article, we present four programs about healthy eating on Netflix. Perhaps they will make you think about why you should eat healthy and what it actually means.

4 suggestions from Netflix to motivate a healthy lifestyle

“Vegan alert: A boom and its dangers”.

“Vegan alert: A boom and its dangers” is an Austrian film about the growing interest in the vegan diet. It features statements from people who are on a vegan diet, as well as experts who are evaluating it. Although the film is about a 100% plant-based diet, it is just as good an entry for people who simply want to reduce meat in their diet. Is the vegan diet safe? Can it be followed by pregnant women and children? Should we actually give up animal products completely? Find 44 minutes and learn the answers to these and many other questions about the plant-based diet.

“(Un)Well” – episode “Fasting”.

Intermittent fasting, or Intermittent Fasting, is an increasingly popular form of nutrition. It involves a temporary restriction of food intake. This restriction can take place on a daily or weekly basis. You can read more about intermittent fasting in the article What is Intermittent fasting?

The “Fasting” episode of the “(Un)Well” eating on a daily basis, as well as longer fasts (several weeks long) that are intended to have a healing effect. The program prompts reflection on the safety of hunger strikes. It also shows how self-proclaimed healers manipulate people (who are often seriously ill) into giving hope of magical healing through the use of fasting.

Note: Remember that intermittent fasting is a safe dietary model, while several weeks of starvation are NOT safe for health and there is no scientific evidence of their effectiveness in treating any diseases.

“Human: The World Within” – episode “Fuel”

Available on the Netflix series “Human: The World Within “Fuel” is an extremely interesting item. In a very accessible and clear way, it shows the workings of the human body in the context of nutrition. You will learn from it what the work of the digestive system is, as well as what the microbiome is and why we need it. The behavior of the body, when it comes into contact with an allergen (for allergy sufferers), is also explained. Those curious about fasting topics will also find something to enjoy. The program shows what happens in the body during fasting and where it gets its energy from when we do not provide it with food. If you are fascinated by the human organism, this is certainly a suggestion for you.

“What the health”

And finally, the icing on the cake. “What the health” is an item that everyone should see! The film provokes and makes you think about whether – or perhaps how much – we are being manipulated, as a society, by power and large corporations. It also reveals the behind-the-scenes of the meat industry, which can be shocking to many people. Is everything depicted in the film true? Is the film itself 100% reliable and should we blindly follow it? No. Certainly, its purpose is precisely to arouse emotions, which the filmmakers successfully succeed in doing. However, despite the emotional coloring of people’s stories (which we absolutely cannot verify), certain facts are undeniable.

Remember that the films on Netflix are not documentaries, but popular science films, and are meant to entertain. The stories of people presented in the above films are individual cases, not supported by any evidence in the form of scientific studies.
